Psi Chi
Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in psychology with the purpose of “encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology.” This established society has been a pivotal part of the University of Richmond Psychology Department since 1950. Majors and minors in psychology are invited to apply for membershp if they rank in the top 35% of their graduating class and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in both their psychology and overall coursework. Annual inductions generally occur during the spring semester.
The University of Richmond chapter of Psi Chi is a student-led organization that is responsible for many activities within the psychology department. Many of the chapter’s efforts are focused on serving the department itself, both students and faculty. In the past, members of Psi Chi have organized recreational activities for students and faculty, sponsored information sessions on graduate school, psychology careers, and other topics of interest to students in the department, and assisted the department in presenting colloquia.
